Cable Details

The photo below shows the winch that holds the left side of the dock (as facing the water). Even before we moved in, this installation had suffered the brunt of the dock's inertia, and gusty windage. The large post shown in the picture was the original anchor point, but it was bent to a 45-degree angle before we moved in. Not long after we moved in, the bracket securing the winch to that post snapped, and I repaired it using the second pipe and a u-bolt, my first foray into dock maintenance.

This photo shows the winch that holds the right side of the dock (also as facing the water). This shows the sort of bracket that broke on the left winch. It's really a piping support bracket, not intended for impact loads.

And, as you could have guessed, this photo shows the cable extending from the right winch to the dock.
